Hello Family and Friends! Baby MacColl here, reporting to you live from my mommy's belly! I hope all of you are doing well, and I AM SO EXCITED that I will get to meet you all in just over 6 months!!! Life is pretty good here in mom's tummy. I have been eating SOOOO good recently. Mom and I really like spaghetti, lasagna, and just about anything with red sauce or ketchup! Dad has been doing a great job of making sure mom and I get our fave foods at each meal. I am not making mom nearly as nauseous as I was a few weeks ago, although mom and I still don't seem to like eggs or chicken. That's OK though, cause the chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream make up for it!
So I have been working pretty hard the past few weeks (as I am sure you saw from my Glamour Shot pictures!!!). I have arms and legs now, with fingers and toes. I tried waiving at mom and dad when they did my most recent photo shoot...I think they saw me! I am now 4x as big as I was for my 8 week 3D photo shoot. I have gone from the size of a prune, to a kiwi fruit, to a peach, to about the size of my daddy's clenched hand now! My noggin-to-body ratio is finally starting to be more normal with my head only being 1/3 the size of my body now. As I begin to enter week 14 of my 9 month training program, my movements are less jerky and more fluid and I am working on all my blonde hair!
So, that's what I have been up to recently. I have also spent some time working on my digestive organs, kidneys, and other fun stuff. It's a good thing I have lots to do over the next 6 months to keep me busy, cause I really really really want to meet you guys and spend some time with my mom and dad! I will write again when I can, and know that I love you all and I'm counting the minutes till August 14th!

In The Clouds!
If our new Blog Background didn't give it away, we are totally "in the clouds" right now! This has been such an amazing week for us both. On Wednesday we went to the doctor for our end of 1st Trimester appointment. We learned that Baby MacColl is very healthy, and there is little to no risk for any genetic disorders or Downs! We had another ultrasound, and heard Baby MacColls' heart beat again. This time it was about 153 BPM, so quite a bit slower than the 169 BPM at week 8 and week 10. This is quite normal, and as the baby grows, the heart beat will begin to slow down a bit.
During this ultrasound, the sonographer needed to take a few measurements. After a few minutes, it was becoming clear that Baby MacColl wasnt cooperating and being quite stubborn (like its Mommy!!!)! The baby was sort of lying on the umbilical cord and this was preventing accurate measurements. The solution was to have Amanda stand up and do her best Hula Hoop imitation and dance in the room for a few minutes! I had no idea that Amanda had such impressive dance moves!!! Of course, she said that if she had to wiggle and dance, than I did too...so I did my best, but she definitely has the better dance skills! This solution worked, and the sonographer was able to get the measurements that were needed.
It was truly amazing to see such distinct features at of our baby at just 13 weeks! Even though Baby MacColl was only measuring 6 centimeters, you could clearly see skinny little arms and legs, and the facial features like eyes, cheeks, nose and mouth were clear as day! We also got a great shot of what looks like Baby MacColl either waiving to Mommy and Daddy or sucking its thumb! After Amanda's version of "Twist and Shout," Baby MacColl must have woken up from its nap because we could see it kind of swimming around. We asked the nurse if there was any likelihood that she could tell what the sex is at that time. She said she would "look around" but that it may still be too early to tell. She said that she wasn't 100% certain, but did say that a specific "shadow" on the screen usually points the other direction if it is a boy. So...Amanda is thinking its a girl, but the jury is still deliberating! We go back on March 16th to find out for sure.
People have asked, "Do you want a boy or a girl?" To be totally honest, we will be happy either way! We are just so happy "to have a bun in the oven" as Amanda has said, that we just cant wait for August 14th to get here! It is clear that God is in charge and that He has answered so many prayers for us. We are just soaking in every moment together and enjoying what each new day brings. A very special "Thank You" to all of our Family and friends for their constant support and prayers over the past 15+ months. It was certainly a challenging time for both of us, and we drew such strength from all of you, and now we cant wait to celebrate with each of you in mid August! Stay tuned for more updates on Baby, Momma and otherwise MacColl!

Attack of the Stomach Bug!
So the past 24-36 hours have been a tale of two totally different days for Amanda! Yesterday (Jan 18th) we went to the doctor for our next Pre-natal OB appointment. Everything went great. We got to hear Baby MacColl's heartbeat again, this time on a Doppler Device. The heartbeat was a strong 168 bpm this time. The appointment was not very eventful other than that to be honest. We go back on Wednesday Feb 2nd for our next ultrasound as part of the 13 week screening process for various genetic disorders. This is fairly routine these days, and hopefully we will get some more ultrasound pics of the baby!
Last night however was a different story for Amanda. She was up all night long with a wicked stomach bug! Poor thing was so sick, and barely got out of bed until later this afternoon. She is doing a little better now, and we are getting her re-hydrated, but she is still feeling pretty weak. Hopefully tonight will be a better night for her and she can get some sleep. Eli has been amazing, and he will hardly leave her side. He is such a good boy and sure does love his momma! Oddly, every time Amanda has a stomach bug and throws up, Eli throws up at least once or twice as well...dont know if that's out of sympathy for his mom, or what the reason would be, but he certainly knows Amanda doesn't feel good at all!
Well, thats about all that has happened in the past 24-36 hours. Hopefully Amanda will be better in the morning. We both hope so since she has clients coming in to work for the next 2-3 days! Stay tuned for more updates in the days ahead!

Babies R Us = Greatest place on earth!
Ok, so I am not at all ashamed to admit it, but my new favorite place to shop is NOT Lowe's, Home Depot, Dick's Sporting Goods or anywhere like that. Instead, I have found a new haven for shopping fun, and it's called Babies R Us! Amanda and I went there today, and all I can say is WOW!!! It was so much fun! We test drove all kinds of strollers, looked at a dozen or so Pack-n-plays, and everything else from High Chairs to passy's to child safety locks, not to mention all the clothes and nursery decor! I cant wait to go back really soon!
Time for some Toofies!
Hi Everyone! Baby MacColl here! I gotta tell you, its been a busy week for me. I've been spending all my time growing and growing. I am over and inch and a half long these days, nearly double what I was when Mom and Dad first heard my heart beat 2 weeks ago! It wont be long and I will bump up from the "Prune" weight class to the "Kiwi Fruit" weight class...and I cant wait!
This week I have been hard at work with my bones and ligaments. In fact, my knees and ankles are in the works, and my arms have elbows and I can now flex my arms and put my little hands together. But it's still a little early to buy me a baseball bat or an interior design book, because my arm is actually about the size of this number 1. Something else that is really exciting is that the Tooth Bud Fairy visited this week, and helped me work on the buds for my Toofies that will come in sometime around Jan-Feb 2012! My kidneys are also working overdrive this week, kinda like my moms, and even though I wont be able to tell you for another 8 weeks if I am a boy or a girl, I am starting to work on that "plumbing" as well!
Stay tuned next week for some other really cool updates. Next week some really really awesome things happen, and I cant wait to tell you all about them!
I love you all, and I cant wait to meet everyone in about 7 months!

Welcome Family and Friends!
Hello Family and Friends, and welcome to our new family Blog! I have never done one of these before, but I figured we are in a "high-tech" age, so why not get with the program, right? I hope each of you will have some fun with this, and will enjoy the updates in the weeks and months to come about all 4 of us...Amanda, Doug, Eli and Baby MacColl of course!
I hope everyone is having a great new year so far! Some of you may have seen the recent hype about how the Zodiac calendar has changed thanks to some cosmic shift in the Earth's alignment. Now before you all become hysterical and start running through the streets, I wanted to offer a simple explanation for this change. After extensive and exhausting research, I can tell you all that this change is not due to some cosmic shift or due to some error in some obscure Aztec calendar, but is in fact due to the pending arrival of Baby MacColl on August 14th-ish, 2011!!! Okay, so maybe the whole world wont change in mid August, but I think we will all agree that each of our lives will change dramatically in about 7 months!!! BRING ON THE DIAPERS, BRING ON THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FEEDINGS, BRING ON THE CRYING AND GOODBYE 8 HOURS OF SLEEP!!!!
So, check back regularly for updates from all of us, and I hope that our ramblings and "blogging" wont be too boring!
